From the
Canal: It couldn't be easier! The Ring
o' Bells is
adjacent to bridge number 2 on the Macclesfield Canal and
just a few yards from the attractive area of Marple Wharf, where
there is ample space for mooring.
Marple
Wharf is located between bridge number 2 and bridge number
1, at the junction of the Macclesfield and Peak Forest
Canals. The area is one of great scenic beauty and is the
start of the descent through Marple's historic flight of
sixteen locks on the way to the Ashton Canal. This is a trip
to be savoured and should be one of the highlights of your
journey around the Cheshire Ring. What better way to start
or finish your navigation of Marple's locks, depending on
your direction of travel, than to stop for a refreshing pint
and a bite to eat at the Ring o' Bells.
To discover
more of the delights of Marple's canals and waterways and to
learn about the history of their construction, decline and
eventual restoration, visit the Marple Website.
By
Road: Most visitors will enter Marple on the A626 from
the direction of Stockport. The quickest route to the Ring o'
Bells is to turn right into Church Lane at the first major
junction, adjacent to the Texaco garage, shortly after
passing the large 'Welcome to Marple' signs. Continue up
Church Lane, across the mini-roundabout, past Marple Centre
and keep going until you see the pub on the right. Turn
right into 'Waterside', where we have ample parking.
If
you will be approaching Marple from any other direction,
